Paddle to Rescue Now

My name is Adrien, when I am not busy with some normal jobs, I am a writer and long distance paddler. Since 2019, I kayaked some of the longest european rivers, often from their sources to their seas. In the past years, I paddled down Volga, Danube and the Loire rivers which respresents in total roughly 7000 kilometers. This way of traveling enable me to come closer to the people living on the shores, to descover their environments and to share good stories. As a background, I studied history and heritage. 2010, I had the chance to travel to Kiev and Lviv, it was during a really hot Summer, and I remember enjoying chilling on the Dniepr river near Hydroparc.

In February 2022, I felt really affected by the war and helpless to do something, only I could support initatives of friends with donations. In August 2023, my idea is to paddle from Zurich to Rotterdam, following the Rhein river. Rhein is a river that borders Switzerland, France and Germany and the Netherlands. In the past centuries, it was an area of conflicts bewteen France and Germany, separating two nations that today leave in peace and created cultural bridges between them. It is maybe idealistic, but as a first step and for all ukranians civilians that suffer because of the war, that lost their houses, that lost their works, that have seen their agricultures and lives ruined by the flood of Nova Kharovka, or for the one that also need medical supports, I wish to paddle and meet more people from Europe, that we can raise funds together for the one that need them. Thanks to the fantastic team of Rescue Now Ukraine, this would be possible with provinding help directly on the ground.

If you do not know us yet

Rescue Now is a Ukrainian non-governmental organization that surged into action at the start of Russia's invasion in February of 2022.

At that time, we evacuated 20,000 people and 855 pets in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions. We provide immediate and vital assistance where it’s needed now because tomorrow may be late.

To make it easier for foreigners to support Ukrainians, we did two things:

  • Achieved the Platinum Seal of Transparency from GuideStar, so you can be confident in our commitment to accountability and integrity.
  • Registered as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, so all donations from US citizens and businesses are tax-deductible.

We are weeks faster than the big world’s foundations and know exactly where the help is needed now. Detailed reports on the utilization of funds will be provided here, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Every $20 you donate saves someone's life in the Kherson District.
Donate now. Tomorrow may be late.
