About project Patronage
From the beginning of russia´s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, there was an acute social problem. Many old people were left without proper support and treatment. Our volunteer team took on that challenge, and we started taking care of people who were unable to take care of their own.
600 beneficiaries are currently under our care.
About person
Like all Ukrainians, Maria with her mother lived peacefully before 2014. Maria worked as an interviewer, and she dreamed about moving to Crimea, where she could successfully cure arthritis, the cause of her disability. But then the war came to her home in Luhansk - they had to survive.
They had to stay without water and electricity for months, hide from shelling, that hit near the house, look for food and cook on bonfire. And then - rescue with the old mother to start life from scratch in Kharkiv. Maria tells, she likes this city so much because it became the second home.
But now all happens again. Of course, it's morally difficult. Although the war, Maria needs to pay rent (and even look for a new apartment soon), purchase medicines, carry her mother to the hospital. Sometimes during exacerbation of rheumatoid arthritis, Maria isn't able even to walk. And there's no one to take care of her mother. That's how these women live, supporting each other.
